Nathan Diller Background Info
“Nashville-based singer/songwriter Nathan Diller, has just released his first EP, Frenzy, a compilation of six songs that range from melodic ballads to high-octane pop. Diller, 19, grew up in a musical household on a steady diet of Aimee Mann, Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, The Goo Goo Dolls and Jeff Buckley. His tastes have broadened to include OneRepublic, Jason Mraz, Michelle Branch, Rooney and Lily Allen.”
“He discovered a love of singing early on and became actively involved in community theater. Soon, his time was consumed with voice, piano and dance lessons. Guitar quickly followed. After spending several years playing writer’s nights and various shows, the EP was the natural progression. Diller wrote all of the songs on the EP and spent close to a year – on and off – in the studio. “These songs are little pieces of time, he says, “snapshots of life as I see it.” ”
MarsBands Review
A star in the making, Nathan Diller has a silky smooth voice and the songwriting abilities of a seasoned pro. It’s only a matter of time before fans start jumping on his bandwagon in droves. Unless catchy beats, harmony, and melody aren’t your thing, chances are pretty good that Nathan Diller’s songs will worm their way into your brain and take up permanent residence.
It’s always fun to see what music people grew up listening to and how it has influenced their sound. When I was growing up I spent my music listening time between my dad’s Pink Floyd, Zepplin, Steppenwolf, Beatles, and The Doors records, and Bush, Nirvana, Greenday, and the like.
And now here’s Nathan Diller, 19 years old, and grew up listening to Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, The Goo Goo Dolls, Jeff Buckley, Michelle Branch, and Jason Mraz. That’s not such a bad way to be introduced to music, is it? And you can certainly see how listening to those bands and musicians has influenced Nathan’s overall sound. For example, Nathan’s song “Long Gone” sounds like a brilliant mix of The Goo Goo Dolls and Michelle Branch.

If you are a regular here at MarsBands, you may remember our review of Orla Gartland - a very young, but unbelievably talented girl, whose word-play and musical knowledge was so impressive I was compelled to write and share her music. Nathan has that same youth/talent/knowledge mix. It’s not something you can teach. Some people are just born possessing all the skills needed to be a successful musician. Not all of them, however, are comfortable taking such a risk.
Nathan has taken that first step and isn’t afraid to showcase his talents. You can be sure his determination will be rewarded. Superior skills and talent do not go unnoticed forever, despite what some people might have you think. Nathan’s skills and talents, while impressive now, are only going to be getting stronger and more impressive as the months and years fly by.
So there he is, people. Nathan Diller. High energy, tremendous passion, loads of talent, catchy grooves and smart lyrics. In the music biz, we call that “the whole package”. Keep a close eye on this guy, as something tells me you’ll be hearing a lot more about him in the not too distant future. He’s got a lot of different things going for him at the moment and there’s a ton of potential there. With a little patience, a little time, and some more ears, Nathan Diller could quickly become a household name. I would recommend that you check out the song “Long Gone” first, because that was my favorite. If you’re looking for something with a little faster beat, then I would suggest you check out “Electricity”. Enjoy!
