The Rundown: Personal and the Pizzas are a Punk Rock band from New Jersey. Their sound is influenced by the likes of the Ramones and Stooges. Unlike some other Punk bands that we have featured on this site, Personal and the Pizzas don’t really have much of a message when it comes to their lyrics.
Many times the lyrics to their songs are nonsensical and, quite frankly, sound like they were made up by a 10 year old. Needless to say, I don’t like this band for their deep, thought-provoking lyrics and hidden meanings.
Nor do I like this band because they are unique, which they aren’t. In fact, many of their riffs and sounds are taken from other bands, namely the Ramones. The music isn’t incredibly creative either. Scratchy, simple power chords with fast-paced, uptempo beats - your basic Punk music.
They do tend to have some rather nice guitar solos, however.
So why do I like this band when there is so much to potentially not like about them? Simply, the music sounds good, they do what they want, and they aren’t mainstream. They are having fun. And through their fun and good music, I too have fun.
When money affords them the luxury, their shows are laced with pizza and beer. They don’t care what you think about them, their sound, or their lyrics. Punk to the core, Personal and the Pizzas are certainly worth a listen. MarsBands.com suggests you take a little time to hear them out, you might just like them.
