The Rundown: Mahoney and the moment, formed in 2011, are a Folk band based out of New York City. The band is made up of Steve Mahoney and Emily Moment. Mahoney and the Moment are a very cool band with a nice, soft, Folksy sound.
There is a very fine line between Country music and Folk music. Mahoney and the Moment walk that line and tease each side with every strum of the guitar. If you like what you hear you can go to their Bandcamp page and download some free songs.
Mahoney and the Moment sometimes feature Steve singing, sometimes Emily, and sometimes the two combine to make some really great sounding music. Steve and Emily harmonize wonderfully. Both have crisp and clear voices which by themselves will make you delighted to have heard them.
Add in the warm, soothing guitar, harmonica here and there, and what I believe to be a mandolin and/or ukulele and you have a fantastically dynamic band capable of great things. Some of my favorite songs from Mahoney and the Moment are, I would Never Lie, Waiting Games, The Next Love, Only in New York City, and Manhattan Girl Again.
MarsBands.com suggests you check out Mahoney and the Moment because they are an awesome, refreshing sound. If you like a Folk/Country/Acoustic sound, look no further. Be sure to check out their songs below from Bandcamp. Bandcamp’s embedding stuff has been acting funky lately, so if it doesn’t show up, hit refresh.
