Acappella Week, Day 6
The Rundown: The Backbeats (not to be confused with the BackBeats, Michigan’s #1 Beatles Tribute Band) are a co-ed Acappella group comprised from members of competing collegiate ensembles. Hailing from Los Angeles, California, The Backbeats appeared on season 2 of The Singoff finishing in 3rd place.
The lineup for The Backbeats is made up of:
Kenton Chen, Kelley Jakle, Courtney Jensen, Joanna Jones, Eitan Nir, Todd G. Levin, Jordan Pharoah, Rachel Saltzman, and Catherine Ricafort.
If Lady Gaga’s music was like this, and she wasn’t so whorish, and trashy, and all around annoying as hell, I might be inclined to like her. In case you didn’t see them on The Singoff, The Backbeats did a Lady Gaga medley which was quite impressive. In addition, they did versions of Love Shack, Landslide, and You Give Love a Bad Name with fantastic results.
The Backbeats have great personality, great voices, an amazing good beat-boxer, and enough overall talent to appease even the pickiest of listeners. Had The Backbeats been singing in a different season of The Singoff, they very likely could have taken 1st place. I’m not sure there was a group with more pizazz and personality than The Backbeats.
MarsBands.com suggests that you check out The Backbeats. Good-looking people, great voices, amazing potential both as a group and individually.
