The Rundown: Bodies of Water are from Highland Park, Los Angeles, California and got started in 2003. Bodies of Water consists of David Metcalf, Meredith Metcalf, and Noah Smith, though for some shows the band brings along more people to assist in certain elements. Bodies of Water have released three albums and one EP: “Bodies of Water” [EP] (2005), “Ears Will Pop & Eyes Will Blink” (2007), “A Certain Feeling” (2008), and “Twist Again” (2011).
Influenced by gospel groups and Tropicalia musicians, Bodies of Water is considered Indie Rock, however, Folk Rock, I believe, is more accurate. Bodies of Water has always been reviewed favorably by the likes of Alarm Magazine, Slant Magazine, and Pitchfork Media, but has never enjoyed mainstream success. And that is a damn, dirty shame. This is a great band that incorporates tons of harmony and instruments in their songs.
Some songs to check out by Bodies of Water are “Under the Pines”, “I Guess I’ll Forget the Sound”, and “Lights Out Forever”. Marsbands.com is a fan of Bodies of Water because of their harmony and their dedication to making great music. This is a band you should know about.
